Abstract

The era of globalization has brought many major changes in various aspects of life, including the decline of national identity, culture, and people's mindsets. In this case, civic education plays a strategic role in shaping citizens who not only understand their rights and obligations, but also have a critical awareness of global dynamics. This literature study aims to analyze the urgency and relevance of civic education in facing the challenges of globalization. Based on studies from various academic sources, it was found that civic education functions as a tool to instill the values of democracy, tolerance, justice, and social responsibility. In addition, this education is also important to strengthen national identity and prevent the erosion of local values due to the influx of foreign cultures. Thus, strengthening civic education in the era of globalization is crucial in creating a generation with a global perspective but still grounded in national values. Developing character-based civic education in Indonesia.
