Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of teachers in shaping students' character. The method used in this research is a literature review or library research conducted by collecting and analyzing data from various library sources, such as books, scientific journals, newspapers, and magazines. The results show that teachers, as educators in schools, play a very important role in shaping children's character. In the current educational era, a teacher's responsibility is not limited to teaching academic subjects but also includes the role of an educator who instills character values, morals, and culture in students. To develop students' character-based behavior, educators must provide good examples through their own conduct. Civic Education functions to train students to think critically, analytically, and act democratically. In the context of Civic Education, teachers serve as role models and examples for students to emulate, as well as educators who guide them to develop integrity and discipline in their daily lives. For Civic Education teachers, shaping students' discipline character is a primary task in schools. This is due to the teacher's role as a model for students in terms of time discipline, dress code, and other forms of disciplined behavior. Civic knowledge includes academic competencies developed in three aspects, namely political, legal, and moral aspects. From these three aspects, students are expected to develop knowledge that reflects disciplined character in schools, such as the legal aspect, which functions as the application of rules or regulations in force. Civic skills are competencies built upon civic knowledge, with the aim that the knowledge acquired is meaningful in facing various challenges as students become who possess disciplined character. Civic character is the most important and essential component of the Civic Education subject and is considered the final outcome of the development of the previous two competencies.
