Abstract

The development of digital technology has brought about significant changes in the social, cultural, and political lives of society, especially the younger generation. Advances in the internet and social media have opened up opportunities for broader political participation, but have also posed challenges to civic awareness and national identity. Today's young generation faces various issues such as low interest in politics, the increasing spread of hoaxes, polarization of opinion, and a weakening sense of nationalism due to the influence of digital globalization. This study aims to analyze the citizenship crisis in the digital era related to the challenges of national identity and political participation of the younger generation. The research method used is a literature study with a qualitative approach through the analysis of various relevant scientific journals. The results show that the development of the digital era influences the mindset and behavior of the younger generation in civic life. Low digital literacy and weak civic education are the main factors causing the emergence of political apathy and a national identity crisis. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen civic education, digital literacy, and the role of families and communities in building political awareness and nationalism of the younger generation in the digital era.
