Strengthening The Spirit Of Nationalism In Border Areas Through Civic Education Based On Local Wisdom

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strengthening of nationalism in border areas through local wisdom-based civic education. Border areas have specific characteristics such as limited access to education, strong external cultural influences, and weak internalization of national values among the community, especially the younger generation, who are vulnerable to identity shifts. These conditions require an educational approach that is not only theoretical but also contextual and relevant to the daily lives of local communities. The research method used is library research with a descriptive qualitative approach through analysis of various recent scientific sources since 2020 that are relevant to the research topic. Data were collected from journals, books, and previous research results, which were then analyzed to identify patterns and concepts that support the strengthening of local wisdom-based nationalism. The research results show that the integration of local wisdom in civics learning can increase national awareness, strengthen cultural identity, and foster active and sustainable social participation among students. Local values such as mutual cooperation, tolerance, and love of the homeland are effective means of shaping students' character. This approach has proven more effective than conventional methods because it is contextual, applicable, and close to the realities of community life . Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen an adaptive curriculum, improve teacher competency in integrating local values, as well as support from government policies and community participation. Synergy between these parties is key to optimizing the implementation of local wisdom-based education in a sustainable and systematic manner to strengthen the spirit of nationalism in border areas.
