National defense awareness is a crucial element in maintaining the integrity and sovereignty of the Indonesian nation. However, in the era of globalization and the development of digital technology, national defense awareness among the younger generation tends to decline. This study aims to analyze the factors causing the decline in national defense awareness among the younger generation and examine efforts to strengthen it through Civic Education. The method used is a literature review by examining various scientific journals, books, survey reports, and relevant policy documents. The results of the study indicate that the influence of globalization, the dominance of foreign cultures, a low understanding of the history of the nation's struggle, and uncontrolled use of social media are the main factors weakening national defense awareness. Civic Education plays a strategic role in shaping the character, nationalism, and patriotism of the younger generation through contextual, participatory, and digital-based learning. This article emphasizes that strengthening national defense awareness cannot be done solely through formal approaches, but must be adapted to the characteristics of the younger generation in the digital era.
