INTEGRATION OF CHARACTER EDUCATION INTO CITIZENSHIP LEARNING IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

Abstract

This study aims to examine the integration of character education into Civics (PKn) learning in elementary schools and identify problems, implementation strategies, and possible solutions. The method used in this study is a literature review , which examines various scientific sources such as journals, books, and relevant previous research. The analysis process is carried out through the stages of identification, selection, evaluation, and synthesis of literature to gain a comprehensive understanding of the research topic. The study results indicate that the integration of character education into civics learning plays a crucial role in shaping students' attitudes, values, and behaviors, such as discipline, responsibility, honesty, and tolerance. However, implementation in the field still faces various obstacles, including poor teacher understanding, the use of less innovative learning methods, and a lack of support from the school and family environment. Therefore, effective strategies are needed, such as developing values-based learning models, improving teacher competency, and creating a school culture that supports character education. Thus, the integration of character education in civics learning in elementary schools, this is a strategic effort to shape a generation that is not only academically intelligent but also possesses strong character and integrity. The results of this study are expected to serve as a reference for educators and researchers in developing more effective and meaningful learning.
