THE ROLE OF PANCASILA CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION TEACHERS IN FORMING STUDENT CHARACTER

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Pancasila and Citizenship Education (PPKn) teachers in character building for students and identify relevant problems and solutions in its implementation. The method used is a literature study (library research) by reviewing various scientific sources published since 2020. Data were obtained from national and international journals, reference books, and previous research results related to character education and PPKn learning. The results of the study show that PPKn teachers have a strategic role as educators, role models, facilitators, and motivators in shaping the character of students. However, there are various obstacles, such as the dominance of cognitive learning, lack of innovation in learning methods, and minimal collaboration between schools, families, and the community. The discussion shows that character building will be more effective if teachers implement contextual, value-based learning, and are supported by a conducive school environment. The solutions offered include improving teacher competency, implementing innovative learning models, strengthening role models, and fostering synergy between schools and the social environment. Thus, optimizing the role of PPKn teachers is expected to produce students with character, integrity, and Pancasila values in their daily lives.
