THE URGENCY OF VALUES AND MORALS IN EFFORTS TO IMPROVE CHARACTER EDUCATION THROUGH PKN LEARNING IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS: A PHILOSOPHICAL AND PRACTICAL ANALYSIS

This scientific article aims to critically examine the urgency of integrating values and morals as the primary philosophical foundation for enhancing the effectiveness of character education through Civics (PKn) in elementary schools. The recent rise in moral decadence among children and young people, such as bullying and the decline in ethical etiquette, is the primary reason for this research. Using library research methods that examine various scientific publications, this study explores the causal relationship between understanding values, moral awareness, and the success of character education in schools. The results of the discussion clearly demonstrate that PKn is not merely a process of transferring knowledge related to memorizing law and history, but rather a vehicle for instilling virtue (transfer of values). The conclusion of this article emphasizes that without the integration of values and morals that are deeply ingrained in children's hearts, character education in PKn will simply become a formal academic routine without having a real impact on changing the behavior and mentality of elementary school students on a daily basis.
