THE STRATEGIC ROLE OF CIVIC EDUCATION IN BUILDING THE CHARACTER OF THE YOUNGER GENERATION

The increasingly rapid development of science and technology marks the entry of the era of globalization which brings various influences in people's lives. Globalization not only has positive impacts, but also has a negative impact on the moral values and nationalism of the younger generation. Therefore, efforts are needed to shape students' characters so that they remain adhering to the values of Pancasila. This study aims to determine the role of Civics Education in shaping students' characters in the era of globalization. The method used is a qualitative approach through literature studies by analyzing various relevant sources. The results of the discussion show that Civics Education has an important role in instilling an attitude of responsibility, a sense of love for the homeland, and shaping students into active, critical, and democratic citizens. With the existence of directed and continuous learning, Civics Education is expected to be able to become a foundation in building a generation with character and is ready to face the challenges of the times.
