IMPLEMENTING RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE VALUES IN CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION SUBJECTS AT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL LEVEL

Abstract

This study aims to examine in depth the implementation of religious tolerance values through Citizenship Education (PKn) subjects at the elementary school (SD) level. The background to this study is driven by the sociological reality of a very diverse and culturally diverse society, which demands the implementation of mutual respect from an early age to avoid sectarian conflict in the future. The methodology used in this study is a literature review by collecting, analyzing and synthesizing various reference sources, academic journals and basic educational documents that are relevant over the past 10 years. The results of the study show that Civics subjects have a very strategic role and are centered as a forum for civic character education. The success of implementing tolerance really depends on the teacher's strategy in using active learning methods, such as role -playing , group conversations, and the habituation of inclusive values in the school environment. In conclusion, the integration of religious tolerance values in Civics which is carried out consistently, in a planned manner, and supported by teacher exemplary values has proven to be very effective in minimizing the seeds of intolerance and being able to form harmonious student characters.
