BUILDING ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS THROUGH CITIZENSHIP LEARNING IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

Abstract

Environmental awareness is a crucial aspect in developing the character of elementary school students. This study aims to examine the role of civics learning in developing students' environmental awareness. The method used was a literature study, analyzing various sources, including books and scientific journals. The results indicate that civics learning plays a strategic role in instilling values of responsibility and concern for the environment through a contextual and participatory approach. Learning that actively involves students has been shown to be more effective in developing environmentally conscious behavior. Therefore, civics learning can be an effective tool in developing environmental awareness from an early age.
