BEYOND PANCASILA: STRATEGIES FOR IMPLEMENTING GLOBAL DIVERSITY CHARACTERS IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL POST-INDEPENDENCE CURRICULUM

Abstract

Globalization demands that basic education produce a generation that is both nationalistic and cross-culturally competent. The Merdeka Curriculum addresses this through the 'Global Diversity' dimension in the Pancasila Student Profile. This study aims to analyze the implementation strategy for Global Diversity character education in Pertiwi Elementary School. A qualitative case study method was used. Data were collected through observations of PPKn and P5 classes, teacher-principal interviews, and analysis of lesson plan documents and student work. Data validity was tested by source triangulation. The results show that implementation proceeds through three strategies: 1) Intracurricular activities in PPKn, 2) Co-curricular activities through the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) with a local wisdom theme, and 3) Extracurricular activities in regional arts and culture. This strategy significantly increases tolerance and respect for student diversity. The main obstacles are limited teacher global literacy and a lack of multicultural learning media. The implications of this study emphasize the need for teacher training to design contextual modules so that students become nationalistic and global citizens from elementary school.
