Plagiarism Policy

Definition: Plagiarism involves "the use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of other authors and the representation of them as one's own original work."

Policy: Papers must be original, unpublished, and not pending publication elsewhere. Any material taken verbatim from another source needs to be clearly identified as distinct from the existing original text by (1) indentation, (2) use of quotation marks, and (3) identification of the source.

Any text in excess of fair use standards (here defined as more than two or three sentences or the equivalent) or any graphic material reproduced from another source requires permission from the copyright holder and, where applicable, the original author and also requires source identification; for example, previous publications.

All submitted papers will be checked for equality with Turnitin

When plagiarism is identified, the Main Editor is responsible for reviewing this paper and will approve action according to the level of plagiarism detected in the paper in accordance with the following provisions:

Similarity level: Automotive Experience practices Zero Tolerance to plagiarism. We use Ithenticate to evaluate the similarity index and then the editor decides on the possibility of plagiarism (Similarity report will be provided to the author). The editorial board has passed the following actions:

  1. Similarity Index above 40%: Article Rejected (because of bad citation and/or bad paraphrasing, article immediately rejected, NO RESUBMISSION accepted).
  2. Similarity Index (20-40%): Send to author for improvement (give correct citations to all places of similarity and paraphrase well even if citations are provided).
  3. Similarity index less than 20%: Acceptance or correction of citations may be required (appropriate citations must be provided for all outsourced texts).

In cases 2 and 3: The author should carefully revise the article, add necessary citations, and properly paraphrase the outsourced text. And resubmit the article with a new Ithenticate report showing NO PLAGIARISM and less than 20% similarity.
