Abstract

Citizenship education is an important aspect in building character active and participatory citizens. At the elementary school level, education Citizenship has an important role in forming the awareness of active citizens student. Citizenship awareness is an understanding and appreciation rights, responsibilities and roles of citizens who contribute i build a better society. Active participation of students in citizenship activities will form attitudes, values and skills that are important for their future as responsible members of society. In this research, I analyze citizenship education in elementary schools to understand how citizenship education works building awareness of active and participatory citizenship to students. The benefit of this research is as a reference regarding what citizenship education has important role in shaping students' attitudes, knowledge and skills in terms of active and participatory citizenship in shaping generations who are more involved in social life. The aim of this research is to analyze citizenship education in elementary schools with a focus on efforts to building awareness of active and participatory citizenship in elementary schools student. The method used in this research is a qualitative method, a research approach used to understand and explain human phenomena in its natural context. The result of this research is to build active and awareness of participatory citizenship in elementary school students has been a very positive long-term impact on individuals and society as a whole. This helps create citizens who are aware of their rights and responsibility in building a just, democratic and sustainable society.
