Abstract

One important factor in the formation of the Indonesian nation's generation is character education. Character education teaches students to behave and behave well. By using the literature study method, the aim of this research is to obtain objective results regarding the role of civics learning in the formation of student character education in elementary schools and the relationship between civics learning and student character education. Character Education (PKn) is the best way to apply values in character education to students because the aim of Civics is basically to create students to become citizens who are democratic and have character in accordance with Pancasila values. Therefore, Civic Education functions well in shaping the morals of the next generation. Education is one of the main factors in building the nation's character and morals. Everyone involved in the world of education has a responsibility to teach students good moral and character values, especially in culture and ethics. Pancasila and Citizenship Education (PPKn) is a mandatory subject implemented at all levels of education, for example in Elementary Colleges, especially in Indonesia. Citizenship learning is very important for elementary school students. However, awareness of ethics in Indonesia is very low, especially seen in college students who are taught about citizenship. One of the main provisions for providing such an education must come from the child's self-awareness.
