The Role of Citizenship Education in Developing a Sense of Tolerance Among Primary School Students

This research aims to develop a sense of tolerance among elementary school students. School is the most important umbrella for students to instill tolerance. In elementary school, students are taught how to behave and behave towards the many differences that exist around us. Indonesia is famous for its friendliness and politeness towards society. An attitude of tolerance is really needed in elementary school because here they will start equipped with knowledge that is very influential for the future. Instilling social tolerance at this time is not very easy because there are many elementary school children in particular. This article shows that an attitude of tolerance in elementary school students can be realized through cultivating an attitude of tolerance through teaching given by teachers, activities that are integrated in the teacher's learning process, and extracurricular activities. Tolerant attitudes must be developed in elementary school students so that students can develop positive character, such as learning to respect each other and respect differences in religion, race, nationality, culture, language or inter-group relations. This article applies a qualitative library research approach method based on data collection in reading. journal/article.
