The Role of Character Education in Forming Students' Ethical Personality in Primary Schools

Abstract

Character education plays an important role in shaping students' personalities and ethics. In an era of rapid social change, where traditional values are often neglected, character education becomes a strong foundation for developing individuals who are responsible, have integrity and ethics. The background to this research is the existence of a moral crisis and social changes that influence individual values and behavior. The aim of this research is to understand the importance of character education in shaping students' personalities and ethics. The research method used is a literature review which involves the study and analysis of various research and theories related to character education. The research results show that character education has a positive impact in shaping students' personalities and ethics. Character education helps students develop strong moral values, such as honesty, responsibility, cooperation, and tolerance. Through curriculum-integrated learning, students are taught to recognize and face moral dilemmas, make the right decisions, and act with integrity. Apart from that, character education also helps students improve emotional well-being, manage conflict, and build healthy relationships with other people. By having a good personality and correct ethics, students can prepare themselves for life in a complex and diverse society. This research concludes that character education has a significant role in shaping students' personalities and ethics. Therefore, it is important for educational institutions to integrate character education in the curriculum and school environment, and involve all stakeholders, including teachers, parents and the community, in supporting effective character education.
