Abstract

This paper aims to discuss the improvement of the character of students at the elementary school level in development through Human Rights Education. Indonesia's change to the current democratic system is inevitable. At this time the achievement of education in Indonesia is still not in accordance with what was expected. There are still many teachers who currently only teach students in the delivery of material only or in cognitive aspects only. While the affective aspect is very important because it is an important provision to improve character education both in schools and in the community. Human Rights (HAM) are very attached to us because of human rights because considering the country of Indonesia which is a democratic country. There are so many human rights violations in Indonesia, one of which is that there are still many students who are unable to understand how to behave and be polite to their elders. A teacher plays an important role in educating students by teaching and being able to uphold Human Rights through character education to students, where students can later apply it in the community.
