The Role of Citizenship Education in Building Students' Moral Character in the Modern Era

The aim of this research is to clarify the role of education in the development of the moral character of modern students. It is hoped that an effective values education system in schools can make students aware of the values contained in the core content taught by their teachers and develop good moral character. Qualitative literature research method obtained from journals related to the content discussed during reading and writing lessons. Conclusions are drawn from the role of education in the development of the moral character of modern students. The need for systematic learning plans in schools. In its teaching materials, citizenship education includes character education which aims to develop students into citizens with character according to Pancasila. Therefore, elementary school teachers need skills to try to achieve all of these things. Teacher competency is defined as the professional duties that teachers must carry out, and regulations are established about what teachers must achieve and how they must achieve it. Because citizenship education not only instills citizenship but also values and morals, it has a very positive impact on the sustainability of efforts to improve the values and morals of elementary school students.
